All students in the School District of Niagara will be attending a World Fest on Monday, October 3, 2022 hosted at Wausaukee School District. Each class will be transported and attend the event as follows:
K-5 grade: 9 – 9:30am
6-8 grade: 10 – 10:45am
9-12 grade: 1:15 – 2:15pm
What is World Fest?
World Fest is a three-year program funded by the National Endowment for the Arts that brings six international ensembles (approximately ten musicians per ensemble) to communities in Midwestern states.
Marinette has been selected as the city in Wisconsin to receive this incredible opportunity for the period of Fall 2022 - Spring 2025. It will provide musical and cultural education to the students in Marinette and Menominee Counties at no charge to the schools or students.
How will attendance assist our students in achieving their academic standards?
PERFORM, one of the four WISCONSIN STANDARDS FOR MUSIC is defined as follows: “Students will analyze, develop, and convey meaning through the presentation of artistic work.”
Students who attend World Fest will be exposed to professional international ensembles allowing them to “analyze, develop, and convey meaning” of performances that they may not have the opportunity to experience in the school setting. The standards linked above outlines grade bands that identify what students should know and be able to do in music for the Perform standard. The Standards framework combined with the skills and talents of your music educators can turn this musical opportunity into an authentic, interactive learning experience.
